Riverwalk (Kynidaros – Eggares)
Embark on a captivating journey exploring Naxos Island’s natural wonders. Commencing in Naxos town, a bus or taxi transports visitors to Kinidaros village in the island’s heart. A scenic 11 km walk unfolds over 6 hours, leading northeast through village terraces, rural roads, and stone-paved paths.
Highlights include historical mills, a stone bridge, the 18th-century Mill of “Hadji,” and detours to Agios Artemios and Byzantine Agios Demetrios. Traverse lush landscapes, watermills, and waterfalls towards Eggares, passing Lagada’s fertile region with the Fabrica complex and Agios Georgios chapel.
The route reveals a ravine with an imposing four-arched aqueduct, a detour to the Nativity cave, and the Pradouna notables’ tower. Concluding in Eggares, experience the traditional olive mill, Byzantine Taxiarchis monument, orchard-filled valley, and the Ammiti wetland coast.
